Week 13: Medieval China IDs

Vietnamese Independence

The Vietnamese people were considered barbaric by their Chinese rulers, at first China tried to get them to become more Chinese, but after failed attempts and riots and rallies, the Vietnamese continued to resist. After these many riots, the "Fragile Bonds: that bound them to China allowed them to seek independance. The distance and geography between them made it difficult for China to protect the Vietnamese and made it difficult to enforce their laws and customs. At the first sight of political turmiol, the vietnamese took their chance and took more drastic measures to show their independance, it took a while, but after one last massive revolt, the Vietnamese were free by 939 CE.Though China again chose to try to obtain leadership over the Vietnamese, it ended with the Chinese retreating and the Vietnamese finally obtaining their long sought political freedom.
