The Balkans... European Crossroads.

 

The Balkans was a name given to the penninsula in southeastern Europe and is bordered by the Black and Mediterranean Seas.  It got its name from the Balkan Mountain range that runs very near by.  Over the years, this area became a crossroads for many cultures to mix because of its geographical position.  At on point in history it divided the Latin and Greek bodies of the Holy Roman Empire.  Today it is a very culture-rich region that is full of many religions and languages.
