Week 30: World War II IDs
Blitz Lightning!
Blitzkrieg was a military strategy used by Hitler, the Nazis, and Germany. Its translation means “lightning war”. Basically, German Panzer (mechanized) troops cut holes in the enemy lines and then brought in dive bombers to help support the troops. These troops penetrated holes in the defenses and went deep into enemy territory. This tactic was most notably used on Poland to invade it in 1939. It was also notable for routing both British and French troops in 1940 in a few days. Germany used this strategy to take over several countries including Poland, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. Russia was able to develop a successful countermeasure to use against this. Basically, they let some Germans come in, and then they surrounded them and captured them.
