The Mongol army, led by Hulagu Khan set out for Baghdad in November of 1257. He marched with what was probably the largest army ever, completed with Mongols.
His forces attacked from both sides of the city, they broke bridges to and from the city, and trapped them in their own city. By March of the next year they had captured all alive citizens of Baghdad.
